Dhaka, Sep 13 (bdnews24.com)—A joint India-Bangladesh army mountaineering expedition team scaled 6106-metre Mount JOGIN-III peak) in the Garhwal Himalaya ranges in India on Sep 11, the Eid day.
An eight-member mountaineering team, led by Major Shariful Islam Jomadder of Bangladesh Army, was flagged off from New Delhi on Aug 10, a press release from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka says.
Prior to the expedition, the Bangladesh team undertook an extensive orientation training course at the National Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi in India.
This is the first joint India-Bangladesh army mountaineering expedition. The Bangladesh mountaineering team displayed a high level of physical fitness and technical skills during the expedition, which began from Gangotri in India on Aug 30. The expedition is currently on its way back to Delhi and a "flagged in" function is scheduled to be held on Sep 23.
